In an innovative project sponsored by a collaboration of the Vermont Council on the Arts and Vermont Agency of Transportation, David Raphael, Principal of LandWorks, was selected by a committee of local citizens and officials of Danville, Vermont, to undertake a village enhancement effort that included streetscape and village green improvements with a focus on public art and aesthetics. This multi-year project was funded for construction in concert with the redesign and reconstruction of Route 2 through the heart of historic Danville known as Danville Green. This project was based on extensive public involvement, including working with local schoolchildren, and will also involve collaboration with consulting project engineers and selected individual environmental artists.
