As part of an ongoing consultancy to Campus Planning Services, we have implemented an award-winning pedestrian and automobile wayfinding system for the University. In addition to design, tasks integral to the project were our orchestration of extensive planning and participation, permitting and ordinance revision and oversight of fabrication. A manual of Design Standards was developed to guide future installations and maintenance. The project has been widely acknowledged as a major improvement to the UVM community and its identity and has been awarded a Certification of Merit by the Vt. Planners Assoc. and was featured in “Big Graphics on Campus” (Signs of the Times, Oct. ’03). Also, the solar powered pedestrian directories and a sign interpreting UVM’s solar panels will be featured in an upcoming Society of Environmental Graphic Design article on “green” signs.
