Saratoga Technology + Energy Park Wayfinding
LandWorks has been retained by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority to develop a new gateway and a comprehensive wayfinding system for the Saratoga Technology + Energy Park (STEP), located on a 280 acre campus in New York’s Tech Valley, near Saratoga Springs. With 1.25 million square feet of space planned to house clean energy and environmental technology companies, the wayfinding program must guide visitors from the Interstate to their office destination within the individual buildings. One of the primary charges of the program was to develop contextual designs derivative of the Adirondack environment and to employ LEED methodologies to create a sustainable sign and information system. To this end, local materials and innovative new technologies are being integrated into the project design with considerations that range from solar power to the use of the local forest resource. A gateway that incorporates native stone walls and landscaping, along with several initial entry and identification signs are under construction as of July, 2008.
