UVM Master Plan
LandWorks has cultivated a long term relationship with the University of Vermont and LandWorks’ Principal, David Raphael, has been on the Faculty of the School of Natural Resources since 1983. For the innovative Campus Master Plan, adopted in 1999, LandWorks facilitated retreats for the Campus Master Planning Committee, assisted in presentations to the Board of Trustees and developed an extensive outreach and participation program which involved the entire University Community and the Burlington Neighborhood Planning Assemblies, as well as Burlington and South Burlington city officials. We assisted in the development of a web page, prepared periodic issues of the Campus Planning Paper, an informational newsletter, and provided all the mapping documents for the Master Plan. We developed exhibits to present the Master Plan and helped prepare narratives for the Landscape section of the document. Our close collaboration with University officials and the Master Planning Committee resulted in a unique land use planning strategy based on overall Goals and Principles for open space preservation and appropriate, sustainable campus development.
